The Big Shed is a great place for a DIY wedding or private event in a truly unique setting.
Big birthdays are the most typical celebrations & are generally informal weekend celebrations with guests either camping or finding other accommodation locally. Cooking is shared, with meals served up in the kitchen and eaten either outside enjoying the view, or in the hall. We find most parties end up beside a bonfire in the firepit.
You can choose to exchange your vows on the lawn overlooking Loch Tay, or choose a different scenic spot locally, knowing that the main hall is available in the event of inclement weather.
Typically, a wedding or party group weekend hire will start early Friday afternoon to allow time for setting up and personalising the venue. The wedding/event itself will take place on Saturday (followed by a reception) which leaves Sunday for clearing up.
The Big Shed has no staff, so we are unable to provide the same kind of service that a staffed venue can and also need users of the building to behave considerately and leave things as clean and tidy as they found them. Our pricing policy reflects this!
If your group has more than 60 people, you will also need to arrange to hire a marquee, which you can have erected on the grassy lawn. (see local suppliers) You will also need to hire portaloos.
Main Hall
An open 65 m2 (9.25 x 6.5m) space that seats 60 comfortably for a sit-down meal or get together
Commercial kitchen
The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking for large-groups, whether it's self-catering or by a commercial caterer.
Live/Work Studio
The creative studio can be used as a space for small children to nap, as a quiet space just for a chat or as a changing room.
Lawn
The grassy area right outside the Big Shed can accommodate tents as well as a marquee (particularly useful if some of your guests struggle with the cost of accommodation locally, especially in high summer).
