The Big Shed has a 60m2 open plan live-in creative studio on the first floor with access via stairs or a platform lift. It is suited to people working with clean media such as photography, textiles, weaving, leatherwork, jewellery, small scale painting and printing and model-makers. We also welcome musicians, film makers, photographers, illustrators, poets, writers, performance, and sound artists. It would not suit artists creating works over 6ft that cannot be dismantled, because of the door heights.
The walls of the hall are available for display of artwork - we don't make a charge for this, but ask for a donation if any work is sold.
It may also be possible for an artist to use the hall to exhibit work to the public and the Big Shed has a "Gallery" branded feather banner which can be erected at the end of the track to attract visitors. Previous visitors have used it as a gallery, as well as offering talks to local art groups and running classes.
Main Hall
The hall has superb acoustics and can be used as a Gallery or exhibition space.
